How to get from the airport to the city center?

Aktau International Airport (SCO) is located about 23 km from the city center. You can reach downtown Aktau by public transport for 400 tenge (~$0.8) or take a taxi starting from 2000 tenge (~$4–5).

What to see in Aktau?

  • Caspian Sea Promenade. A great place for walks, especially at sunset. Cafés, attractions, and beaches are located here.
  • Sherkala Mountain and the Valley of Balls (near Aktau). Unique natural landmarks of the Mangystau region, popular among tourists and photographers.
  • Beket-Ata Mosque (located in an underground cave). One of the region’s most important spiritual sites. Situated about 250 km from the city, often visited as part of guided tours.
  • Otpan Tau Ethno-Village. A historical and cultural complex featuring museums and monuments dedicated to Kazakh history and traditions.
  • Aktau Beaches. The city is famous for its rocky and sandy beaches, clear water, and warm climate. In summer, the sea warms up to +24…+26 °C.
